About Me My name is Linda Hill.
I have 11 years experience as a counsellor. I initially trained at the Pastoral Foundation in Edinburgh. I trained in EMDR with the EMDR Institute 5 years ago and am an accredited consultant with EMDR UK and Ireland. I have over 30 years experience of offering support to people in a wide variety of settings in Devon, London and Glasgow.
I have particular experience in working with trauma, bereavement, childhood abuse, rape and sexual assault, domestic violence, addictions, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.
I work in a variety of ways. The main orientation of my Diploma in Counselling is Transactional Analysis. I use creative ways of working at times when words are hard to find, including sand tray therapy drawing and using puppets. I use relaxation techniques, visualisation and body focused work to enable people to find ways to calm the physically unpleasant symptoms of post traumatic stress. How we work together will depend on each individual’s needs and preferences.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy a registered independent counsellor, an accredited practitioner with EMDR – UK and Ireland and a qualified counselling supervisor.
I abide by the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am subject to their professional conduct procedures.
I am a qualified supervisor, having trained at the Iron Mill Institute in Exeter and gained a Diploma in Supervision and Mentoring 3 years ago. I have experience of supervising counsellors, both individually and in groups, as well as offering supervision/consultancy to other professionals.
